New Generation Y Buyer Survey Spells Trouble for Detroit

Auto pricing website TrueCar studied the car buying behaviour of four million Gen Y (18 to 27 year-old) over a twenty-four month period and here’s what they found.
Scion took the crown for top brand, with 37.4% of the market and for top model (the tC coupe), with 21.2%, while second place went to Mitsubishi (32.1%) and their Lancer sedan (20.3%).
Mazda was the third most visited brand for Gen Y buyers, though only 17th in terms of model. The top four vehicle choices were Japanese, with a German in seventh place and a South Korean in ninth.
American carmakers secured fifth place in the model line-up with the Ford Focus Coupe, even though Ford only scored a mere 5.1% of the market overall.
Nissan and Toyota scored big on Gen Y appeal, with Hyundai and Honda following close behind. Kristen Andersson, one of TrueCar’s automotive analysts describes the generation thusly:
“Generation Y buyers want vehicles that look distinct and can be tailored to their individual tastes. Buyers from this generation are also looking for vehicles that have the technology features they are accustomed to built into the vehicle at an affordable price.”

Mercedes-Benz Tops Secret Shopper Study of U.S. Dealers

Mercedes-Benz dealers were number one for customer treatment in the US according to an independent study by survey company Pied Piper. The California-based company hired 3,524 “secret shoppers” and sent them to US dealerships in order to determine how their salesmen were performing in anything from explaining a car’s features to closing a deal.
This is the third year in a row that Mercedes-Benz, which looks set to top the sales charts this year in the luxury segment, has topped Pied Piper’s study.
The German firm was followed by Jaguar and Lexus dealers, who tied in second place. According to the survey, Toyota and Chrysler’s Ram sales representatives were ranked the best among mass-market carmakers, while Mitsubishi and Suzuki finished at the bottom, as did Lincoln in the luxury segment.
According to CEO of Pied Piper, Fran O’Hagen, in general the brands that scored the poorest were those with the worst sales per dealership. O’Hagen added that’s easy to explain, as these brands cannot retain competent salesmen for a long time.
He also commented that reduced staff has had a negative impact in customer satisfaction now that sales are on the rise again and dealers don’t have the necessary staff to cover their needs.
However, as O’Hagen pointed out, the secret of success in this particular business is not really a secret at all. Good dealerships focus on a customer’s needs, get to know them and ask a few questions about their driving habits – and that takes skill and time.
The “secret”, according to O'Hagen, is to "think not like a salesman, but as a customer".

Burlapp find: 2013 Mitsubishi EVO Illustration

Gotta say, nice looking illustration....
"Another illustration, so who know what it will look like. But Road and Track reports that the Evo is not dead. And the new version would be powered by a Hybrid system, paired with a 1.6 Liter Turbo engine. Why not?We still need fun cars around. I just wish they also looked more fun. So far it's just been tricked out versions of the boring Lancer. How about its own design, for once. "

Mitsubishi evo

Mitsubishi evo
Mitsubishi car manufacturer and its three diamonds in the badge are known for everyone. This manufacturer produces everything, from small compact city vehicles, through off-roads to special ones as Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. Right this car was chosen by the company Seidl Tuning for next improvements. It’s the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution in its 8th generation. I think there’s no need to introduce this car. The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is like an ordinary Mitsubishi Lancer but with WRC style. And that means really aggressive engine, suspension, interior with no comfort but great seating. It’s the car for those who want fast, but safe drive. The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 8 has a 2.0 liter DOHC 16V turbocharged engine. The base offers 280hp. Of course there are FQ special versions with the most powerful FQ400 producing amazing 405hp. This version is similar or better than Lamborghini Murcielago, Audi RS4 or Porsche Carrera 4S. Seidl Tuning and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 8 is a very nice partnership. Seidl used to tune especially German cars, but know they’ve decided to beat this sharp Japanese. Because the engine and suspension are up-to-date, they made only bodykit modifications – front bumper, side sills and rear bumper. The front bumper comes from original lines and it’s slightly modified. There are vertical bars in side openings and both sides has small lollypops now. The most distinctive change is in case of new paintwork of central part. Now it’s black and it looks very interesting. They continued in the sills and now we can enjoy extreme ones with sporting image. The rear bumper was next and it consists of three big openings with exhaust tip in one of them. Overall, this bumper looks nice; it’s simple but has nice details. The way of German tuners. They didn’t forget about wheels. Original rims were replaced by chromed alloys with low-profile tires. I think this wasn’t good move. The Mitsubishi Lancer Evo’s characteristic rear wing was replaced by slightly retiring with stop light. And that’s all. The German Seidl tuning proves that they can do also non-German machines. They made the extreme bodykit for the extreme car. It’s not perfect, but looks good and drives perfectly.

Mitsubishi Evo X

The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, colloquially known as the Lancer Evo or Evo, is a high-performance sedan manufactured by Mitsubishi Motors. There have been ten official versions to date, and the designation of each model is most commonly a roman numeral. All use two litre, turbocharged engines and four-wheel drive systems.

Many aspects of the car were changed such as:

* The interior was upgraded in the GSR version with a better class of Recaro seat.
* The body kit had flared arches at the front and rear and a new aluminium rear spoiler replaced the IV FRP version and gave an adjustable angle of attack to alter rear down force.
* The track was widened by 10 mm (0.4 in), the wheel offset changed from ET45 to ET38 along with the wheel diameter which rose from 16" to 17" to accommodate Brembo brakes which were added to enhance braking.
* In addition the brake master cylinder bore increased by 0.3 millimetres (0.01 in).
* The engine was strengthened in a few areas and the cam duration was increased. The pistons were lighter with a smaller skirt area. 510 cc injectors were replaced with 560 cc injectors for better engine reliability due to more electrical "headroom" and the ECU was changed to include a flash ROM, allowing more boost pressure to the same TD05-HR as the Mitsubishi Evolution III and IV.

Furthermore, the turbocharger was again improved. Torque was increased to 373 N·m (275 lb·ft) at 3000 rpm. Power officially stayed the same, at 280 PS (206 kW; 276 hp), though some claim horsepower was actually somewhat higher.
